The Russian city of Novouralsk is located 67 kms North of of Yekaterinburg on the banks of the VerkhNeivinsk lake. Novouralsk is one of the centers of the nuclear industry in the Middle Urals. In December 1945, the U.S.S.R. Government has made a decision to build Russian nuclear industry. In 1946, construction of the Novouralsk plant to produce heavily enriched uranium began. The leadingscientists, engineers and skilled workers took part in the construction of the nuclear center. One of the biggest enterprises of the Urals, the Urals Electrochemical Plant is located in Novouralsk. In1992 it received the European award for the high quality of production. The Urals Electrochemical Integrated Plant is the largest uranium enrichment enterprise in the world. It is a major designer and manufacturer of advanced process control instruments and systems for the nuclear industry.
